Mark’s Latest Guide to HMRC Problems

Step 1

If you have or know you are going to have an HMRC issue

It is very important you take charge of the situation with a clear well thought out plan of action.

HMRC will not just go away, they can and do send in the bailiffs to distrain or take away your company assets. Or simply Petition to Wind up the Company, if the Petition gets advertised, the Bank will almost certainly freeze the Company Bank Account.

Step 2

Arrange for time to pay if need be.

Make a compelling case why HMRC should give your Company time to pay. Simply saying if you don’t give us time to pay, you will receive nothing and will put us out of business will not cut it, and will almost certainly, not help the situation.

If you can put together a well worded written proposal that “Really Passes the Common Sense Test” then you are, in a much better position of receiving agreement over a payment plan, but you should take advice from someone who constantly deals with HMRC on these issues and has their respect.
